Hillgrove's Heath Houston hammers home this dunk. 2009 SEBA Atlanta H.S. Hoop Festival Hawks swoop down on Eagles Houston named MVP Cobb Civic Center - Marietta, GA
The Hawks from Hillgrove H.S. have one of the best starting five in the state and all are high flyers as the showed against Harrison in the nightcap of the SEBA Atlanta Holiday Hoop Festival.
Harrison's 6-9 So.-Marshall Guilmette impressed me with his footwork around the basket. With guards Mike Lawrence and Stefan Julian providing the assists to 4SHOT Hoops All-Star 6-7 Heath Houston (Auburn signee), 6-7 Kyle Sledge and 6-5 Dominic Early; Hillgrove dunked their way to an early 9-2 lead that forced Harrison to call a quick timeout.
After the timeout the Hoyas settled down and got back into the game. Point guard Jamal Watson did a nice job of penetrating the Hawks defense and 6-9 sophomore Marshall Guilmette showed the skills that could make him a highly touted recruit by the time his senior season rolls around.
Houston was pretty much unstoppable when he received the ball in the paint; he added two more dunks and Lawrence connected on 3 of 4 free throws to give Hillgrove a 27-17 halftime lead.
Both teams were able to push the ball up and down the court but there really wasn’t a lot of scoring going on. Ryan Blumenthal showed a nice touch for the Hoyas with a pair of three-pointers to help his team stay in the game.
Early would score 10 second half points for Hillgrove as they came away with a convincing 17-point win, improving their season record to 9-1. Harrison falls to 3-4.
Heath Houston (Hillgrove) and Jamal Watson (Harrison) were named the games MVP’s for their respective teams.
The Final Score: Hillgrove 58 - Harrison 41
Scoring Recap Hillgrove: Heath Houston finished with a game high 17, Dominic Early added 16 and Mike Lawrence chipped in with 11.
Harrison: Ryan Blumenthal scored 10 points to lead the Hoyas and Jamal Watson chipped in with 8.
