The Tucker “Tigers” and Stephenson “Jaguars” both took home championship trophies in the forth-annual DeKalb County Holiday Basketball Tournament. National Division Boys Championship Special from: Mark Brock - DeKalb County Athletics The Stephenson Jaguars (7-2) overcame some late turnovers and held off a flurry of three-point attempts by the No. 10 ranked Chamblee Bulldogs (8-2) in the final 31 seconds to win the National Boys Division title 60-57 at Southwest DeKalb. Frank Adams teamed with Derek Harper and Alex Ordu to hit six consecutive free throws in the final 1:02 of the game to help seal the victory for Stephenson. Adams finished with 21 points in the game. Langston Hall had a game-high 32 points to lead the Bulldogs, including six three-pointers. Holiday Basketball Tournament - Girls American Division Boys ChampionshipLakeside vs. TuckerArabia Mountain H.S. – Lithonia, GA Special from: Mark Brock - DeKalb County Athletics The American Boys Division pitted No. 4 ranked Tucker (9-2) against the 8-1 Lakeside Vikings fresh off an upset of No. 2 ranked Clarke Central in the semifinals. Tucker was not going to be a second ranked team to fall to the Vikings as Shonzikio Williams hit for 24 points and Chris Kingsberry hit for 23 to lead the Tigers to a 79-72 victory over the Vikings. Williams did the damage in the first half with 21 of his 24 points including 10 in the second quarter as the Tigers opened up a 49-39 halftime lead. Kingsberry took over the third quarter as he hit for the final 10 points of the period for Tucker to send the Tigers into the fourth period up 63-54. Al Key hit a three-pointer and made a steal for dunk and Derrick Perry added another three-pointer as the Vikings cut the lead to 65-62, but the Tigers answered with a 7-2 run to push the lead back out to 72-64 and held on in the final minute behind a pair of free throws by Curtis Diamond.
