The talented Strickland entered the 2010 season needing 70 points to hit the 1,000 point plateau and came out of the gate strong scoring 26 (Roswell), 24 (Chamblee) and 29 (Druid Hills) to join the elite club.
Strickland has 1,278 for his career after 16 games of this season and in 93 games he is averaging 13.7 for his career. He hit for 31 in the 17th game of the season to help lead the No. 9 ranked Lakeside Vikings to a 90-81 upset of No. 7 ranked Tucker on Tuesday night (Jan. 26). Strickland is a career 46 percent shooter from two-point range (320-689), 31 percent from three-point range (116-372) and 74 percent from the free-throw line (290-391). He has 280 career assists (3.0 average) and 219 steals (2.5 average). He's hitting for 21.8 points a game as a senior with 4.2 steals and 3.8 assists averages. Strickland has accomplished this feat playing in one of the toughest basketball reagions in the state in Region 6-AAAA. The past four Class AAAA champions came from Region 6-AAAA. All four teams, Columbia (2006, 2008), Tucker (2007) and Miller Grove (2009), also come from DeKalb County. The region also has four teams ranked including Miller Grove at No.3, Chamblee at No. 6, Tucker at No. 7 and Lakeside at No. 9. Strickland is considering Jacksonville and Charleston Southern among others as his choice to continue play in college. |
