Dutchtown cruises to the Final Four

For senior Brittney Strickland, Jessica Foster, Abria Trice and Alyssia Strickland now have a chance to make more history.

Fort Valley, GA
– The two things Dutchtown had to do to advance to the Final Four, contain Glenn Hills All-State performer Jessica Morton and limit their own turnovers; they did both ( the later to some extent ) and now the Lady Bulldogs are on their way to the Final Four.

Abria Trice will have to play big if Dutchtown is to win the state championship.

Dutchtown got off to a fast start and as has been the case most of the season it was point guard Brittney Strickland leading the way. Strickland scored four quick points as the Lady Bulldogs opened up an 8-2 lead.

Jessica Morton and Shandrasia Sealy would both knocked down three-pointers for Glenn Hills as they closed the gap to 10-8.

Alyssa Strickland, Brittney's twin entered the game and added an extra surge of energy scoring five quick points. Abria Trice who in my option is the "X" factor for Dutchtown had a good first quarter with six-points. Dutchtown led 17-11 at the end of the first quarter.

Dutchtown has a tendency to play out of control during stretches of their games and I know that has to drive Head Coach Angela Williams crazy; well it happened again in the second quarter and it opened the door for the Lady Spartans as they cut the lead to 29-24 heading into the half.

Foul trouble really hurt the Lady Spartans in the second half; with 2:32 left in the third-quarter Morton picked up her 4th foul and had to take a seat on the bench with her team trailing 38-31.

A basket by A. Strickland at the end of the quarter would give Dutchtown a ten-point lead, 48-38.

Jessica Morton was the only real scoring threat for Glenn Hills.

Morton returned for Glenn Hills at the start of the forth-quarter but it didn't really make any difference in the game, the Lady Spartans just didn't have enough. Dutchtown would increase their lead to 57-42 late in the quarter and cruse the rest of the way.

Coach Williams and her Lady Bulldogs with now move on to the Gwinnett Area to take on the winner of the Madison County/Northwest Whitfield game on Wednesday, March 10th.

The Final Score: Dutchtown 60 – Glenn Hills 44
